Synopsis:
In the distance, Mugen's eyes show a glaring fire. A man emerges through the flames and walks towards the end of a cliff. In flames, the man plummets off the ledge. Deep down, Mugen knows he'll survive.

The trio are still heading to the west via a raggedy path. Mugen has been leading the way, while entertaining two young ladies. They're fascinated by his outlawish ways. Fuu is getting jealous and one of the girls says that a strange monster has been spotted in the mountains. It's a Crow Monster. Mugen has been oggling the girls the entire time and finally makes a pass at them. They smack him around a bit, but Mugen got what he was after...their food.

Out of nowhere, three hip-hop travelers appear. They drop a tale of the ghost of Yoshitsune: a handsome, seven foot tall, flit footed monster. Nearby, a masked samurai, with katanas similar to Jin's, watches them with great interest.

Having to take a leak, Mugen runs into the forest. He spots a bear witch has died from multiple arrows. He joins Jin and Fuu tells them that he is intrigued by this monster.

Fuu looks at them aggrivatedly. She accuses them of not being interested in looking for the Sunflower Samurai. She says they're only traveling with her because she is "cute." They both look disconcerted. Mugen rages that he never wanted to come with her or look for the Sunflower Samurai. It was by chance that he came and he knows that Jin "the dork" feels the same way.

Mugen accuses Fuu that she doesn't know anything about the Sunflower Samurai either. She doesn't know what he looks like or if he is even alive. But, Fuu insists that he is alive, and will be until she has her revenge on him. Finally, Fuu has had enough. She says that she is going to find some new bodyguards. She bids them adieu and turns away.

Mugen decides to leave as well. Jin looks at both of them and turns around. All of them head in their seperate direction. Fuu looks back, but doesn't say a word.

Night falls and an ominous presence surrounds Jin. In the distance, Fuu hears the clashing of swords. She imagines Jin and Mugen are fighting, but she no longer cares. She trips, again, and picks up the pace. Another clash rings, and Momo-san jumps in the trees. She chases after it, but falls down a rivine.

She grasps a hanging ledge to brace herself. Momo-san drops in to help. But only tickles her nose. Meanwhile, Jin is taggled in a vicious duel with the masked samurai.

Reality hits Mugen. He forgot that he had a score to settle with Jin, and heruns back. However, an arrow soars through the air and nearly misses his head. A native man stands before the full moon and fires a multitude of arrows at him. The native man comes to a halt and asks Mugen if he is Matsumae-Han. Confused, Mugen asks what he's talking about? The man departs and Mugen heads after him. However, he has vanished.

Finally, Fuu has held on for long enough and plummets down the rivine. Jin hears her scream, but has revealed the masked samurai's identity. He commends Yukimaru for improving.

Yukimaru trained in the same dojo as Jin and sparred with him. He tells Jin that Ogura took his own life after Jin had spared him. The dojo is no more and the wind sends rumors of Jin to all the former students.

Jin parries all of Yukimaru's attacks and has no intention of killing him. Their swords finally touch each others necks. Yukimaru finally has his opportunity to kill Jin, but fearing death himself, he doesn't take it. Jin sheathes his sword and tells Yakimura that he can tell the others that he has had his victory. Jin says that he might as well be dead and jumps from the cliff. Yakimura watches astoundly.

Fuu is at the mercy of the river and is washed back to her childhood. She sits in a field of sunflowers and can only see the profile of a samurai. She chases after him, but he keeps getting farther away. She stops and turns as the sunflowers wither around her. She grasps for the seeds as they fall to earth. She clinches to the few in her hands. When, she opens them up, Momo-san is there and eating them.

When Fuu awakes, she is bundled next to a fire. Next to the river is the native man. He is feeding Momo-san sunflower seeds. He hears her stomach growl and points to the food next to the fire. She adamantly digs in. After the meal, Fuu says that she cant repay him. She calls back Momo-san, but it doesn't come. The man gives her some sunflower seeds, and Momo-san jumps to her. From the nearby leaves, he makes her a remedy for her swollen leg.

He warns her of traveling at night, and she introduces herself. He says his name is Okuru. Fuu says that she's been recently traveling alone. She didn't want to drown, because she wouldn't have died "beautifully." Okura says that his people were taken by the Walking God, an epidemic. Because he was traveling, his family died while he was away. He tells Fuu that there is no such thing as dying "beautifully."

The fire has finally burned out. The native man says that he is heading West. Fuu says that she is searching for the Sunflower Samurai and asks to travel with him.

All alone, Mugen goes to the river and stares up at the sky. Jin has appeared somewhere else along the river. Mugen appears to be sleeping, but calls out to the people surrounding him. They say they are government officials of Matsumae-Han and accuse him of being Okuru.

Notes:
The three hip-hop men are wearing a yellowish, a red, and a blue kimono.

Fuu trips again, after she leaves Mugen and Jin and they head their seperate ways.

We learn that Momo-san has a taste for sunflower seeds, which is probably why it stays so close to Fuu.

As Mugen stares at the sky, he says "that Bitch" in reference to Fuu? It seems that he also has a thing for staring up at the sky for he's done it before.
