Synopsis: The episode begins with another map sequence. "The Saw" Manzou narrates the trios journey. After they cross the Isle, they pass trials, travel over mountains, and reach Kansai, the southwestern half of Japan. Through the darkness, a young ninja is persued by a group of mercenaries. He reaches the forest, but has no time to catch his breath. In the corner of his eye, he sees a lake and an opportunity. He reaches in his garb and pulls out a small bag. He tosses it in the lake and runs off. Ironically, Jin, Mugen, and Fuu are fishing at the same spot. Mugen and Fuu have caught a plethora of fish, but Jin is experiencing a more difficult time. Joking with Fuu, Mugen doesn't miss a chance to make fun of Jin's bushido honor, which cracks them up. Ignoring the comments and very desperate, Jin dives in the lake and retrieves a bag of gold. They gawk over their new fortune and thank the lake. They have a grand fiest, as you can tell from a fat Fuu. She's so happy she sings the "being full song." Mugen and Jin, however, spot their own fun. The red light district. They present their new fortune and are welcomed with open arms. The servant takes them to the top suite for some food and entertainment. Upset that she cannot get in the red light district, Fuu and Momo-san wait outside of town. The women are presented to Mugen and Jin, and they save the best for last. The final woman presents herself as Yatsuha. Mugen and Jin rock/paper/scissors for her, and Mugen makes a glorious defeat. The latter of the women go with Jin. The servant takes the money to his master, where he inspects the coins. The coins are frauds that were stolen from him earlier. He inquires about the characters of Jin and Mugen, and sends his servants away. Out from the elevator, the mercenaries present their master with the young ninja, Otowa. They didn't find the money. So, they tortured him. They concluded that he was sent to infiltrate their organization. The master asks who joined around the same time as he did. The servant responds that Yatsuha is the most likely. However, all suspects must be put down. He orders that all of them, including Mugen, Jin, and Fuu must be dealt with. In the next room, Yatsuha is listening in carefully of their conversation. Mugen psyches himself up for the "long night." He moves in for a kiss, but she knocks him out with a vase. She calmly explains her situation to the unconscious Mugen. Her comrade has been caught and she must take over. But, Mugen wakes up as she is about to sneak out. Mugen still has one thing on his mind and Yatsuha attacks him. Mugen eventually pins her to the wall. She manages to distract him fon one second and clocks him in the groin. Impressed with Mugen's strength, Yatsuha gets another idea. She decides to lead him on, in order to use him for help. She leads him into the room where the master was. Unhappy that they aren't alone, Mugen does a number on all of the ninja in the room. Yatsuha runs to Otowa. He tells her that the organization is part of the Negoro clan, mercenaries from the civil war. Yatsuha then tells Mugen that the room down the elevator is better. Mugen snatches her on his back and leaps down the empty elevator shaft. To make the traitors talk, the mercenaries are going to pour melted gold down their throats. However, Mugen and Yatsuha burst in. Mugen stands aghast in the crowd of mercenaries. Yatsuha is unfeathered by their predicament. She now sees that Momochi Ginsa is the leader. He has been forging fake money and this plant is proof. She asks him to give up quietly, but he chuckles. He boasts about the Negoro clan and how he has the upper hand. Yatsuha whispers that she will do something amazing if Mugen beats up all the Negoro clan. Mugen says he wont be duped, again...but does anyways. The mercenaries also drop in on Jin's "good time," but he takes care of them as well. Mugen and Yatsuha clear out the entire plant except for Momochi. He realizes that Yatsuha is the Shogunate guard's dauthter. His organization has been brought down by the blood relative of the same mercenary clan. He charges Mugen, but they double team him, and Yatsuha kills him. The next morning, the officials arrive and apprehend the rest of the Negoro clan. She thanks Mugen, but he just wants her to keep her whispering promise. She distracts him again, and cracks him on the head with a four by four. Otowa and Yatsuha drop him off a tree for his friends to find him, and they leave for Edo. Otawa hopes the crows dont get him, but Yatsuha is optomistic. She says, "he's the man I'm going to marry."
When Mugen regains consciousness from the vase, he says that this treatment is not bad either. Yatsuha promises Mugen an "amazing" time to get him to do what she wants. She also says that they will meet again when their journeys are done. In the very end as Yatsuha walks away, we catch up with Fuu and Jin. Fuu is hungry, and Jin has a sore back. |
